1 hot dog roll or french loaf (depending on how many people you need to serve)
Softened, but not melted butter or margarine. 50 g for a hot dog roll and about 150 g for the french loaf.
1-3 cloves of garlic
2-6 tsp of dried mixed herbs
Slice the bread into small slices (not all the way though, the bottom must still be joined).
In a bowl mix the butter, herbs and garlic well.
Put a little or a lot of the butter mixture between each slice of bread and spread a little over the top.
Wrap in foil and place in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 180C. Serve warm.
For cheesy garlic bread, finely grate the cheese of your choice and place it between the slices and sprinkle over the top, before wrapping it in tin foil.
